MU Women’s Basketball Moves Past Mary Baldwin, 68-45

Box Score STAUNTON, Va. - The Methodist women's basketball scored the first 12 points of the day and led by 22 points at intermission (42-20) on its way to defeating Mary Baldwin, 68-45, on Sunday afternoon at the Physical Activities Center.
 
The Monarchs (11-8, 7-6 USA South) opened the action by hitting only 4-of-13 field-goal attempts (.308) yet had five different players score as they grabbed an early 12-0 lead in the first six minutes of the contest. During the rest of the afternoon, the Fighting Squirrels (0-19, 0-13 USA South) would come no closer than nine points of Methodist.
 
Methodist's bench outscored Mary Baldwin's reserves by a 47-6 margin as 15 different MU players contributed points. The Monarchs also held a 61-32 rebounding edge, including 27 offensive boards.
 
Miriya Bryant had eight points and four rebounds for Methodist, and Kelsey Harrington grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.
 
Jazmine Brooks had a game-high 14 points, including a 12-of-12 showing from the free-throw line, and Shanice Miles totaled 12 points and nine rebounds.
 
The Monarchs play next on Wednesday evening at William Peace with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 pm.
