Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – The Methodist softball team lost both of its games on Sunday at the Dot Richardson Invitational.
To begin the afternoon, the Monarchs fell to Trine, 10-4. The Thunder (1-0), ranked 10th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's preseason top-25, finished the game with 12 hits and four errors.
Methodist starting pitcher
Emily Hester (0-1) took the loss, and Bre Cooper (1-0) earned the victory in the pitcher's circle for Trine.
Sarah Stapleton went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Monarchs, and
Allyson Aycock had a base hit and drove in a run.
Later in the day, Methodist dropped its matchup against Misericordia, 12-6. The Monarchs (0-8) had 12 hits and committed one error, and the Cougars (2-0) finished with 16 base hits and three errors in the field.
Stapleton (0-3) was saddled with the loss in relief of relief of game two starter
Brittany Miller. Aycock went 3-for-4 for Methodist and drove home a run.
Natalie High and
Marcy McKee each had two-hit performances.
The Monarchs play No. 21 Coe at 9:00 am tomorrow and later square off against Emerson.
