RALEIGH, N.C. Methodist softball opened USA South Tournament play Thursday morning with a 6–0 loss to Meredith College at the Meredith Softball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Meredith set the tone early, scoring three runs in the opening inning, with two coming on sacrifice flies.
- The Avenging Angels added to their lead in the third inning with an RBI double to make it 5–0. One more run crossed in the sixth inning, extending the advantage to 6–0.
- In the seventh inning, Methodist drew three straight walks to load the bases, but Meredith held the Monarchs off the scoreboard after ending the game on a double play.
