Box Score 2 DANVILLE, Va. -- The Methodist volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Cougar Classic hosted by Averett University.

The Monarchs (2-2), fell to Guilford, 3-1. Set scores were, 25-23, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18. MU was then defeated by Roanoke, 3-0, with set scores standing at 25-19, 25-16, and 25-14.

Against Guilford, the Monarchs were led by
Cassidy Hayes, who had 16 kills, and
Ryann Appleby added eight kills. Appleby and Hayes also had four and two blocks, respectively.
Karly Klimas led the defense with 21 digs.

In the loss to the Maroons, Hayes once again led the Monarchs' offense with 10 kills. Appleby,
Taylar Stafford and Cheyenne Pump all had four kills apiece as MU hit just .141 as a team.

Defensively, Klimas led the way with 16 digs and
Maggie Harris had 20 assists.

Roanoke, which hit .301 as a team, was led by Allison White and her 16 kills. She posted an individual hitting percentage of .433 for the match. Macey Tyree had nine kills and Brooke Bostwick added five. Jessica Block led RC with 23 assists and Alexandra Martin chipped in 13. Defensively, White led the way with 11 digs, and Christen Zammit and Tyree had 10 apiece.

The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday morning when they take on Emory & Henry at 11:00 am.
