FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Three different players reached at least 10 kills and the Methodist volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat William Peace, 3-2, on Wednesday evening at the Riddle Center.

The Monarchs won the opening set, 25-21, before dropping sets two and three by the same 25-23 score. In set four, MU (7-7, 3-1 USA South) fought off WPU (4-13, 2-2 USA South) by the score of 26-24, before running away with the fifth and final set, 15-7.

Cassidy Hayes, the reigning USA South Rookie of the Week, paced the MU attack with 16 kills and a .314 hitting percentage.
Grace Crawford and
Chyenne Pump added 12 kills apiece.
Maggie Harris handled the setting duties and racked up 46 assists, while
Reagan Holloway totaled four service errors.

Defensively, Methodist was paced by
Karly Klimas' 25 digs. Harris added 19 digs, Pump totaled 15, and
Taylar Stafford chipped in 13. Hayes added three blocks as well.

For William Peace, Laura Bland registered 21 kills and hit .313 for the match. Megan Mansfield added 11 kills, and Nicole Phillips chipped in nine kills. Sarah Weavil directed the offense to the tune of 32 assists, and Bland had three service aces. Carson Williams had 15 digs to lead the Pacer defense, and Bland and Maddie Irvin had 14 apiece. Mansfield had six total blocks, and Tempestt Frazier added five.

The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday at Mary Baldwin when they take on the host Fighting Squirrels as well as Greensboro.
