MU Volleyball Earns a Split in Methodist Tri-Match

Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist volleyball team earned a split on their first day of home play, knocking off Emory & Henry 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-13) and falling to N.C. Wesleyan 3-1 (25-12, 19-25, 23-25, 27-29). With the results, MU now stands at 3-3 on the young season, while E&H falls to 3-3 and NCW moves to 1-2.
 
Taylor Stafford led the Green and Gold against Emory & Henry, notching nine kills, while Ryann Appleby and Cassidy Hayes each added seven a piece. Maggie Harris tallied 30 assists and Karly Klimas recorded 22 digs.
 
Tristen Pennington led the Wasps with ten kills while Allie Evans registered seven kills and two blocks. Maleah Neely totaled 24 assists and Emily Hinshaw lead the team with 20 digs.
 
In the loss against N.C. Wesleyan, the Monarchs got another strong effort from Stafford, who tallied 18 kills. Hayes and Grace Crawford also added double-digit kills, recording 18 and 15, respectively. Appleby registered 4 kills and three blocks (one solo). Harris recorded a match-high 53 assists and 11 digs, while Klimas racked up 36 digs.
 
Samantha Morton recorded 13 kills to lead the Battling Bishops and Tori Stewart contributed 11 kills with two solo blocks. Kayla White had 22 assists and 11 digs, while Christina Huber picked up 31 digs.
 
Methodist returns to the road next weekend for the Maroon Classic held by Roanoke College in Salem, Va. The Monarchs will face off Saturday against Roanoke at 6:00 pm, followed by an 8:00 pm matchup with Hollins.
