CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- After rain delayed the start of the match, the Methodist men's soccer team spoiled Covenant College's homecoming night, besting the host, 3-1, on Saturday evening.

With the victory, Methodist improves to 6-4-3 overall and 3-0-2 in USA South play, while Covenant drops to 3-8-1, 2-2-1.

The Scots were the first to score, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute as Michael Arango scored on a break-away shot.

Methodist responded 30 seconds before halftime as
Dylan Thomas received a cross from
Seth Harrison in the middle of the box and scored to knot the match at 1-1.

The Green and Gold took the lead, 2-1, in the 65th minute as
Ben Gold notched his first goal of the 2015 season, heading the ball in off a corner kick by Gustav Fink-Jensen.

Harrison tallied the final goal for MU in the 85th minute, taking a feed from
Eirik Nordseth and converting, giving the Monarchs a 3-1 advantage.

Overall, Methodist outshot the Scots, 22-5, including eight shots on frame to the host's two.
Alex Rabone made one save for the win, and Covenant's Daniel Kubin was given the loss after making five saves.

The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday as they travel to Danville, Va. to take on the Averett Cougars at 4:30 pm.
