RALEIGH, N.C. -- Despite outshooting the USA South first-ranked Meredith Avenging Angels, 25-9, the Methodist women's soccer team fell, 1-0, on Wednesday night at the Meredith Athletic Field.

The win pushes Meredith to a perfect 9-0 in conference and 10-4 over, while the loss drops Methodist to 7-6 on the overall season and 5-3 in league play. Â

Celena Greer tallied the lone goal, unassisted, for the Avenging Angels in the 35th minute.

Taylor Ross took the loss after making seven total saves, and Meredith's Jaisa Loch earned the win after saving eight shots on goal.

The Monarchs return to home play on Saturday as they host Mary Baldwin at 2:00 pm.
