MU Women's Soccer Grabs 6-0 Victory over Huntingdon on Senior Day

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's soccer team picked up a USA South win, 6-0, over the visiting Huntingdon Hawks on Sunday afternoon.
 
Prior to the match, Methodist honored its four seniors, Taylor Cavazos, Julianne LoGrasso, Cassie Poindexter and Taylor Ross.
 
With the win, the Monarchs now stand at 10-6 on the overall season and 8-3 in league play. Huntingdon falls to 3-10-2 overall and 1-8-2 in conference with the loss.
 
The Monarchs used three back-to-back goals within three minutes to grab a 3-0 advantage 21 minutes into the first frame. Capri Clark started the scoring for Methodist, taking a feed from Kortney Maggard in the center of the box and converting at the 18:32 mark. Cassie Poindexter struck a minute after, giving the Green and Gold a 2-0 lead after taking a pass from Eryka Underwood. Deycasha Miller tallied the last of the trio of goals in at the 21:01 mark, finding the back of the net after a cross from Jasmine Newman 10 meters out.
 
Amber Conrad recorded the final tally of the first half, assisted by Madeline McWilliams, at the 42:21 mark, giving the Monarchs a 4-0 lead at the break.
 
Newman tallied her own goal at the 71:50, assisted by Clark, for a 5-0 advantage.
 
To cap the day's scoring, Dahlia Guin registered her second collegiate goal, unassisted, at the 86:44 mark.
 
The Green and Gold tallied 24 shots on Sunday, including a staggering 17 shots on frame. The Hawks were able to put up four shots, with only one on frame.
 
Ross earned the win on her senior day, making one save in 70:01 before being replaced by Meghan O'Meara, who was not forced to make any saves. HC's starting goalkeeper, Leah Leach, left with the loss, despite making 11 saves.
 
The Monarchs will conclude their regular season on Wednesday as they host the Ferrum Panthers at 1:00 pm.
