RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Methodist women's soccer team picked up a conference road win on Tuesday night, besting the host William Peace Pacers, 3-1.

After a scoreless first half, the Pacers (5-6-1, 3-3 USAS) gained a 1-0 lead on a break-away goal scored by Mari Mitterling, assisted by Alyssa Gasperini, in the 48th minute.

The Monarchs (6-4, 4-1 USAS) leveled up the score, 1-1, in the 60th minute as Taylor Cavazos, assisted by Eryka Underwood, sent the ball past starting goalkeeper Shannon Maddex.

Not even a minute later, rookie forward Capri Clark converted a pass from Deycasha Miller to give Methodist the lead, 2-1. MU was quick to strike again, scoring its third and final goal in the 62nd minute as Sara Snotherly took a feed from Cavazos, and scored, going ahead, 3-1.

Overall, the Monarchs outshot the Pacers by an overwhelming 27-5 margin, including 15 shots on goal to WPU's four. Taylor Ross was awarded the win after making three saves and allowing one goal. Despite making a season-high 12 saves, Maddex was handed the loss after three goals allowed.

The Monarchs will continue on the road as they head to Lookout Mountain, Ga. to face off against the host Covenant Scots Friday at 4:30 pm.
