LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- The Methodist women's soccer team grabbed a 3-1 victory over the host Covenant Scots on Friday afternoon.

Methodist (7-4, 5-1 USAS) was quick on the attack, scoring back-to-back goals within three minutes. At the 7:30 mark,
Taylor Cavazos scored on a feed from
Sara Snotherly three yards out to take the lead, 1-0. The Monarchs went ahead, 2-0, at the 11:29 mark as
Jasmine Newman scored after a deflected pass 20 yards out.

After the break, the Green and Gold struck early again, gaining a 3-0 advantage at the 47:51 mark as
Kortney Maggard, assisted by
Capri Clark, found the back of the net from the top right side of the box.

Covenant (5-4, 3-3 USAS) cut the deficit to two goals at the 86:13 mark as Grace Bartelt tallied the Scots' lone goal of the match, unassisted.

Overall, the Monarchs outshot the Scots, 13-5, and 7-3 in shots on goal.
Taylor Ross (7-4) added another win to her resume after not being pressured to make any saves in her 76:20 in goal.
Meaghan O'Meara entered the game for Methodist for 13:40 and made two saves, including a penalty-kick shot, and allowed one goal.

The Monarchs will compete again on Saturday as they travel to Demorest, Ga. to take on the Piedmont Lions at 2:00 pm.
