FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Guilford College outgained the Methodist football team, 620-237, en route to a 55-7 win over the Monarchs in MU's home opener at Monarch Stadium.
Quaker quarterback Matt Pawlowski was an efficient 21-of-30 for 397 yards and five touchdowns without an interception and two different GC (2-0) receivers went over 100 yards on the day as Guilford's offense proved too much.
After each team punted on their first possession, GC took over on the Monarchs' (1-1) 39 yard line following a 43-yard punt return by De'Eric Bell. Jordan Rieling converted the point after.
However, the Quakers closed the half with four consecutive scores, including pass plays of 41, 43, and 10 yards to take a 41-7 lead into the break.
