NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Methodist's women's soccer team recorded their first loss of 2015 on Saturday afternoon after dropping a 1-0 match to host Christopher Newport. With the loss, MU now stands 2-1 on the season, while CNU moves to 4-0-1.

After a delayed start due to lightning, the Captains scored the lone goal of the match in the 17th minute on a shot by Kayla Locklear from 10 yards out.

Methodist was close to tying the match in the 37th minute, but
Camille Battle's shot was slightly off, and bounced off the crossbar.

CNU had a stronger offensive outing on Saturday, outshooting MU 29-7 and 7-2 in shots on frame.

Carly Maglio earned the win in goal for the Captains after making two saves.
Taylor Ross landed with the loss, playing all 90 minutes and making four saves with one goal allowed.

Methodist continues play in the Captains Classic on Sunday as it plays Virginia Wesleyan at 1:00 pm.
