DANVILLE, Va. -- The Methodist women's soccer team proved to be the stronger offensive team in a 1-0 win over conference foe Averett University Friday afternoon at Daly Field.

The Monarchs (3-2, 1-0 USAS) outshot the host Cougars (0-3-1, 0-1 USAS) by 12 shots (21-9) and an overwhelming 10 shots on frame (11-1) forcing rookie goalkeeper Bailee Brown to make 10 saves.

Methodist notched the lone goal of the match 10 minutes into the second frame, as
Amanda Hayes recorded her third-career goal with a header off a free kick into the right side of the net.

Taylor Ross was awarded the win after being forced to make only one save in all 90 minutes in goal.

MU will continue conference play on the road as it travels to Maryville, Tenn. to compete against the Scots of Maryville College on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
