Cassidy Hayes posted a season-high 19 kills but the Methodist volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at William Peace on Tuesday night.
William Peace (8-4, 2-2-1 USA South) won the opening two sets, 25-17, 25-21, before the Monarchs (7-4, 2-2 USA South) took the third set, 25-20. The Pacers then outlasted MU, 26-24, in the decisive fourth set to earn the win.
Hayes hit .478 on the match, making just one error in 38 attempts. She was also dominant at net with four block assists.
Ashley Beardsley and
Brittany Lewis chipped in nine kills apiece, with Lewis hitting .471 in the match.
Maggie Harris led the way with 34 assists, and
Kaitlyn Rush added nine.
Karly Klimas and
Reagan Holloway each had a pair of service aces, and Klimas led the defense with 28 digs.
Laura Bland led WPU with 15 kills, and Liana Solomon and Tempestt Frazier each had 11. Solomon and Kennedey Paine split setting duties on the night. Paine racked up 23, and Solomon added 22. Maddie Irvin had 18 digs for the Pacers, and Carson Williams added 10.
Methodist is back in action on Saturday in a conference tri-match at Averett beginning at 10:00 am.
