FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's soccer team earned a 3-1 win over Greensboro on Sunday afternoon at the Monarch Soccerplex.
The Monarchs opened the scoring late in the first half when
Sara Snotherly's cross found
Taylor Cavazos who was able to get a head on the ball and beat Ly'Shanette Major at the 36:28 mark.
The first 15 minutes of the second half were scoreless until
Amber Conrad extended the Monarchs' lead to 2-0 in the 62nd minute. Nine minutes later,
Dahlia Guin made it 3-0 when she scored off a feed from
Kortney Maggard.
The shutout bid was spoiled in 89th minute as Julyana Devonish was able to beat MU's
Taylor Ross and cap the day's scoring. The Monarchs outshot GC, 26-7, and had 17 shots on frame to just three for the Pride. Major made 14 saves on the day and Ross made two for the Monarchs.
Methodist is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts N.C. Wesleyan at 2:00 pm.
