GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Greensboro men's basketball team edged Methodist, 65-58, in a tightly-contested game on Wednesday night at Hanes Gym.

Greensboro (8-6, 2-1 USA South) shot just 37.1 percent from the floor (26-70) but managed to overcome a three-point halftime deficit to edge MU (4-10, 0-3 USA South).

Methodist held the Pride to under 30.0 percent shooting in the first half en route to a 28-25 lead at halftime. However, Greensboro upped its shooting percentage to 45.5 percent in the second half, and after MU took a five-point lead (34-29) on
Tabias Hilliard's bucket with 16:38 to play, reeled off a 10-4 run to take a 38-39 lead on Tevin Miller's trey with 12:51 left on the clock.

The Pride stretched their lead to as many as eight points, but Methodist was able to trim its deficit to three points twice in the final two minutes. The last time coming on a pair of free throws by
Brandon Monk with 46 seconds to play. Greensboro's Donovan Griffith answered with a layup and Parris Scales iced the game with a pair of free throws with three seconds to play.

Methodist shot 35.2 percent from the field (19-54), but made good on 18-of-22 free throws (.818), while Greensboro was just 5-of-9 from the line. Methodist also outrebounded Greensboro, 45-37, but turned it over 16 times to just seven for the Pride.

Hilliard led MU with 12 points and added six rebounds, and Monk had 11 points.
Jackson Whitley chipped in nine points, 11 rebounds and six blocks.

Scales led all scorers with 14 points and added 10 boards. Joseph Gatling added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Griffith contributed 11 points off the bench.
