FERRUM, Va. -- The Methodist men's basketball team held Ferrum to 38 points and Head Coach
David Smith picked up career win number 200 with a 57-38 win at Swartz Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Smith picked up career win number 200 in his seventh attempt at the milestone. He is the program's all-time winningest coach and now has a career record of 200-226.

The Monarchs (5-10, 1-3 USA South) limited Ferrum (7-7, 2-2 USA South) to just 28.6 percent shooting (14-49) for the game. Methodist forced as many Panther turnovers (14) as Ferrum had made field goals. Offensively, MU was an efficient 43.9 percent from the floor (25-57) and assisted on more than 50 percent of its made baskets (14). The Monarchs also committed just seven turnovers, while forcing Ferrum into 14.

Methodist led 25-19 at the half then clamped down on the Panthers, allowing FC to score just 19 points in the second half on 6-of-25 shooting. MU countered with 50.0 percent shooting (13-26) as it pulled away from the Panthers.

Davion Ayabarreno hit on 8-of-10 field goal attempts for 17 points to lead the Monarchs. He added six rebounds and three steals.
Tabias Hilliard had 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, and
Jackson Whitley chipped in six points, five rebounds and five blocks. Whitley, a sophomore, now has 50 blocks on the season, and 87 in his career, good for fifth all-time at MU already.

Marvin Wilson led the Panthers with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-5 shooting from long range. KeAndre' Robinson had six points and nine rebounds.
