GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Methodist women's soccer team closed its regular season schedule with a 2-0 victory over Greensboro on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Monarchs finish the regular season with an 8-5-2 mark behind a 8-2-2 record in conference play. Meanwhile, the Pride fall to 9-6-3 overall and 5-6-3 in league action.
The Monarchs scored at the 29:29 mark when
Capri Clark notched her seventh goal of the season, 1-0. The score held through halftime.
Deycasha Miller tallied the second goal for MU in the 87th minute to extend the lead to 2-0.
Goalkeeper
Clare Witt recorded two saves while playing all 90 minutes in her first collegiate game. Brittany Morrison registered six saves in 90 minutes on Sunday.
Methodist held a 13-5 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Monarchs, who are the No. 2 seed from the East, will resume play in the USA South Tournament later this week. As the second seed, MU earned a first round bye and will face the winner of Greensboro and Ferrum in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Monarch Soccerplex beginning at 3 pm.
