Christian Sanders poured in a career-high 20 points, including 4 of 6 shooting from three-point range, and the Methodist women's basketball team held off a late second-half rally from Hood in earning a 65-62 win on Sunday afternoon at N.C. Wesleyan.

Sanders, who was named to the All-Tournament team, shot 7 of 11 overall and added five rebounds and three steals.
Jalisia Campbell scored 11 points and added eight rebounds and three assists, and
Lillian Geehring chipped in 10 points. Sydeny Bryan contributed eight points, four boards and seven blocks off the bench.

Hood was led by Jasmine Webster and Dajah Gee, who scored 20 and 17 points off the bench, respectively. Webster added seven boards and four steals, and Gee had six rebounds and five steals. Denisha Robinson added seven points and six rebounds.

Methodist stormed out to a 15-6 lead after the first quarter and extended its lead to as many as 16 points in the second quarter en route to a 36-23 lead at the break. The Monarchs shot 51.6 (16-31) from the field in the opening two quarters, including 4 of 5 (.800) from long distance. Conversely, Hood shot just 21.2 percent (7-33) in the first half and hit on just 2 of 14 (.143) three-point attempts.

Methodist still led by 13 at the 7:32 mark of the third quarter following a pair of free throws from
Shelly McDonald before the Blazers scored eight quick points capped by a triple from Webster to make it a five point game (42-37) by the 4:16 mark. The Monarchs managed to push their lead back up to 10, before another surge late in the quarter by Hood made it a five-point contest (49-44) heading into the fourth quarter.

The Green and Gold kept Hood at bay in the final stanza, holding a lead anywhere between four and nine points the majority of the period. Hood made it a one-possession game late in the quarter when Dajah Gee knocked down a jumper with 33 seconds to play that put the score at 63-60.

The Monarchs missed a pair of free throws on the ensuing possession, and with a chance tie the contest Bryan blocked Lauron Bagby's jumper and
Allison Dones secured the rebound and was sent to the line where she made a pair of free throws with 15 seconds left for a 65-60 game. Webster made a layup with one second remaining for the game's final basket.
