CONWAY, S.C. -- The Methodist men's basketball team fell, 88-59, at Division I Coastal Carolina on Wednesday evening.
 
Davion Ayabarreno, who scored 39 points in a win over St. Andrews on Monday, paced the Monarchs with 13 points on Wednesday. He added three assists as well. Bryan Rouse chipped in nine points and six rebounds for MU (1-5).
 
The Chanticleers (3-5) were led by Demario Beck's double-double of 18 points and 10 boards. Elijah Wilson added 16 points, and Jaylen Shaw contributed 13 points, six assists and three steals.
 
Coastal Carolina shot 45.7 percent (32-70) for the game and hit on 11 of 31 three-point attempts (.355), including 8 of 19 (.421) in the first half as the Chanticleers raced out to a 49-20 lead by halftime. The Monarchs hit on just 6 of 33 shot attempts (.182) in the first half and did not make any of their 11 three-point tries. The Chanticleers scored the game's first five points and led 22-2 just over five minutes into the contest. Their lead never fell below 18 points the rest of the contest.
 
Methodist will play at Washington and Lee on Saturday beginning at 2:00 pm.
