ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Methodist women's basketball team finished play in the Holiday Inn Express and Suits Classic, which was hosted by Oglethorpe, with a 59-47 loss to Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The Monarchs (2-8) were led offensively by
Jalisia Campbell who tallied 12 points and also led the squad with seven rebounds.
Sydney Bryan finished with 10 points and six rebounds, while
Christian Sanders ended the day with eight points, four rebounds and four steals.

For the Colonels (3-7), Caroline Andreassen paced her team with a game-high 14 points after hitting four of eight shots from the floor, including three treys. Olivia Schad registered also registered a game-high with 10 rebounds, while Cheyenne Bunner posted eight points and eight rebounds.

MU opened to an early three point lead (6-3) after a jumper by Campbell, but Centre ended the period scoring nine of the last 11 points to hold a 14-8 lead at the end of one quarter. The Colonels eventually pulled out to a 14-point (36-22) lead at the break.

The Green and Gold only made 7 of 26 (.269 percent) from the field in the second half as the Colonels were able to hold on to a 12-point advantage and got the win, 59-47.

As a team, the Monarchs ended the day shooting just 28.8 percent (17-59) from the floor, while making only 2-11 (18.2 percent) from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Centre finished at a 35.1 percent clip (20-57), but only made 16-30 (53.3. percent) from the charity stripe. The Colonels also outrebounded the Monarchs by a 50-34 margin.
In addition,
Kaneya Chambers ended the night with three points to go along with five rebounds, three steals and an assist.
Allison Dones also added two points and a rebound along with four steals and two assists.

Methodist will remain idle for the rest of 2016 and return to action on Jan. 2, against Guilford in the Riddle Center at 7 pm.
