Jalisia Campbell recorded her fourth double-double in the last five games, but Guilford College hung on to beat the Methodist women's basketball team, 70-57, on Monday evening at the March F. Riddle Center.

Campbell scored a team-high 20 points and pulled down 10 boards to lead the Monarchs (2-9).
Christian Sanders added 12 points and six rebounds, and
Kaneya Chambers chipped in 10 points for MU.

Heaven Walters scored a game-high 22 points to lead Guilford (9-1). She added nine boards as well. Anais Weatherly had 12 points and six rebounds, and Lauren Ramsey and Amy Steller scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

With the Quakers leading 7-6 midway through the first period, GC used a 10-3 run to close the quarter and assume a 17-9 lead after one. Methodist fought back in the second quarter, pulling to within 21-19 on a short jumper by Campbell, but Guilford closed the period on another run, this one a 12-4 spurt, to take a 33-23 lead into the locker room.

After pulling ahead by as many as 14 points (52-38) late in the third quarter, the Quakers saw the Monarchs come storming back once more. A 13-4 burst by the Monarchs, including six points from Chambers and five from Sanders, saw MU get within five points (56-51) and prompted a GC timeout with just under five minutes remaining in the contest.

Six straight points from Guilford coming out of the stoppage ignited a 10-2 run that gave the visitors a 66-53 lead with 1:50 to play and sealed the victory.

Methodist shot 39.1 percent for the game (25-64) and made just seven trips to the free-throw line, converting four tries. Guilford shot 41.0 percent (25-61) but converted 18 of 25 free-throw attempts (.720). Guilford held a slight 42-37 edge in rebounding and turned the ball over 16 times to 18 for the Green and Gold.
