Madison Ronelli and
Emily Brennen each had three goals and an assist as the Methodist women's lacrosse team ran past Saint Vincent, 16-5, on Saturday afternoon at Monarch Stadium.

Sareena Coleman chipped in three goals, and
Bianca Terenzi and
Kaelyn Holland added two goals apiece in a full team effort from the Monarchs.

After opening a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Holland and Terenzi, the Bearcats (0-1) got a pair of tallies from Maggie Nelson to knot the game at 2-2 at the 17:41 mark. MU (2-1) responded with five straight scores, from five different players, to surge ahead 7-2.

Nelson answered again for Saint Vincent to make it 7-3 going into halftime.

In the second half, Nelson scored once again for Saint Vincent to make it 7-4, but eight straight goals from the Monarchs put the game out of reach as MU took a 15-4 lead with 13:38 to play. Helena Shoplik added one last tally for the Bearcats before Ronelli closed out the scoring off a feed from
Renee Burt in the final minute for the 16-5 margin.

The Monarchs outshot Saint Vincent, 29-16, and dominated possession by winning 15-of-23 draws and picking up 14 ground balls to just seven for the Bearcats.

Emily Ewin played all 60:00 in the cage and made seven saves, while Maria Franey had six saves on the day for Saint Vincent.

Ronelli, in addition to her four points, had four draw controls, three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Holland had four draw controls, and Brennen added three ground balls with a pair of draw controls.

Nelson finished with four goals for Saint Vincent, and Sarah Wallerstedt added three draw controls.

Methodist will now head to Florida for three games beginning on Mar. 5 when it takes on Roger Williams at 6:00 pm.
