CLERMONT, Fla. -- Roger Williams knocked off the Methodist women's lacrosse team, 17-6, on Saturday evening as the Monarchs opened play on their spring break trip.

RWU outshot the Monarchs (2-2), 32-20, and kept the MU offense in check all day. Roger Williams scored the first four goals of the game, including back-to-back tallies from McKenna Everding for a 4-0 lead by the 8:31 mark.

Renee Burt and
Madison Ronelli answered with scores for MU to make it 4-2 at the 5:51 mark, but three more goals from RWU pushed its lead to 7-2 with 2:26 left in the first half.
Bianca Terenzi scored for the Monarchs to make it 7-3, but six straight goals to close the first half and begin the second half gave Roger Williams a 13-3 lead with 18:42 to play.

The Hawks won 14-of-25 draw controls which helped to offset 14 turnovers.
Emily Ewin took the loss in the cage for MU, allowing 13 goals in 41:45 and making seven saves. Kimberly Bolk played all 60 minutes and made eight saves with six goals allowed.

Terenzi scored twice for MU, and
Emily Brennen had a goal with two assists. Ronelli and
Sareena Coleman each had a pair of draw controls.

For Roger Williams, Everding had six goals and an assist, and Kaelin Hogan scored four times with one assist. Emily Stoeppel added a pair of goals and two assists. Caitlin Murphy had six draw controls, and Everding had three ground balls.

Methodist is back in action on Monday when it plays Franciscan at 4:00 pm.
