Methodist Women's Lacrosse Topples Franciscan, 16-2

CLERMONT, Fla. — The Methodist women's lacrosse team cruised to a 16-2 win over Franciscan on Monday evening in Clermont, Fla.

The Monarchs (3-2) raced out to an 11-1 lead at halftime and were never really threatened. Madison Ronelli led MU with four goals, and Renee Burt and Bianca Terenzi added three markers apiece. Emily Brennen had a goal and three assists.

After a scoreless 10 minutes to open the contest, Kari de La Viez got MU on the board off a feed from Brennen at the 19:50 mark. The Monarchs needed just over a minute to make it 2-0, as Terenzi scored unassisted. By the 10:37 mark of the first half, MU had stretched its lead out to 7-0.

The Barons (0-1) got on the board with 2:50 left in the period on an unassisted goal by Mary Krolicki.

The Green and Gold kept Franciscan off the scoreboard until the 14:16 remained in the contest and the Monarchs closed the game with three more goals for the final score of 16-2.

Methodist outshot the Barons, 38-5, and won 15-of-20 draw controls. Emily Ewin started in goal for MU, and was not forced to make a save in 19:30. Jannelle Gant played 10:30 and allowed one goal, while Molly O'Hara played the final 30:00 and made two saves with one goal allowed. Savannah Jane Duncan played all 60:00 for Franciscan and came up with 10 saves.

Methodist will take on Nazareth on Thursday at 12:00 pm in its final game in Florida.
