FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's basketball team was held to 15 second-half points in falling to LaGrange, 64-45, on Wednesday evening at the Riddle Center.

A five-point deficit at the half (35-30) turned into a 47-39 deficit after three as LaGrange outscored the Monarchs 12-9 in the period. Methodist was able to trim its deficit to just three points (37-34) early in the quarter, but a 10-3 run by the Panthers gave them a 10-point advantage (47-37) with 1:36 left  in the period following Marilauren Farr's layup.

LaGrange held MU to just six points in the fourth quarter as it steadily built its lead en route to the win. The Monarchs converted just 16.7 percent of (6-36) of their second-half field goals, while LaGrange countered at an even 50.0 percent (11-22) over the final 20 minutes.

The Monarchs were led offensively by Ayanna Peques with 14 points, going 5-of-6 from the field and 4-of-6 from the line.
Jalisia Campbell added 10 points, and
Jasmine Canady contributed six points, nine rebounds and four assists.

The Panthers' Lauren Johnson ended the game with 15 points, going 6-of-10 from the field, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Farr had 14 points, and Madison Baker added 12 points and seven rebounds. Farr and Kelsey Mitchell each had a team-best eight rebounds, and Mitchell added six assists, three blocks and a pair of steals.

The Monarchs fall to 10-7 (5-4 USA South), and the Panthers improve to 12-7 (6-4) on the season.

The Monarchs will be back in action on Saturday, at Meredith College beginning at 2:00 pm.
