Kaelyn Holland scored five goals to lead the Methodist women's lacrosse team to a 17-3 win over Ferrum on Sunday afternoon at Monarch Stadium.

Methodist (4-4, 1-1 USA South) dominated from the outset and even weathered an hour-long lightning delay in posting its first win over Ferrum (3-5, 1-2 USA South) since an 8-7 victory in 2009.

The Monarchs out shot Ferrum, 40-9, and won 13-of-21 draws and picked up 22 ground balls to nine for the Panthers. Zhane Ruffin' started the scoring for MU just 12 seconds into the contest and Holland added her first goal at the 29:27 mark for a 2-0 lead. MU's offense continued to roll and following back-to-back goals by
Sareena Coleman, the Green and Gold held a 7-0 lead with 14:31 left in the first half.

Julianne Bove got Ferrum on the board at 13:52 for a 7-1 game, but five of the next six goals were scored by MU for a 12-2 lead at the half. The game was delayed for an hour with under 10 minutes remaining in the first half due to lightning in the area.

In the second half, Holland and
Sarah Ewin scored to give MU a 14-2 lead before Audrey Ramsey capped FC's scoring at the 17:38 mark.
Madison Ronelli scored off a feed from
Renee Burt, Holland scored unassisted and Coleman set up
Bianca Terenzi for the game's final goal with just 25 seconds to play to conclude the scoring on the day.

In addition Holland's five goals, Terenzi scored three times and Ronelli, Sara Ewin and Coleman each scored twice. Burt had two assists and
Emily Brennen had a multi-point game with a goal and an assist. Ronelli won five draw controls and had five ground balls. Brennen scooped up four ground balls and Janelle Gant made five saves in picking up the win for MU.
