MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Madison Ronelli and Emily Brennen scored four points apiece and the Methodist women's lacrosse team knocked off Huntingdon, 10-6, on Saturday afternoon at Samford Stadium.
 
Ronelli scored three times in the first half and Brennen scored twice with one assist to account for all of MU's (5-4, 2-1 USA South) scoring as MU built a 5-2 lead by halftime. The Hawks (5-5, 1-2 USA South) got a goal from Ariana Kelty to make it 5-3 just 27 seconds into the second half, but another score by Ronelli and a goal by Renee Burt put MU up four, 7-3, with 26:25 to play.
 
Kelty and Jen Price answered with goals for Huntingdon to pull the Hawks within two goals at 7-5, but the Monarchs closed the game by scoring three of the final four goals, to pull out the win.
 
Methodist boasted a 31-20 edge in shots and both teams won nine draw controls. The Monarchs picked up 22 ground balls to 20 for Huntingdon and MU was able to limit HC to just 9-of-20 on clear attempts, while converting 10 of its 13 tries.
 
Victoria Krupa made 12 saves in the cage for Huntingdon. Jannelle Gant played the first 42:51 in goal for MU and made six saves with just two goals allowed. Emily Ewin played the final 17:09 and made one save.
 
Ronelli also added five draw controls, four caused turnovers and two ground balls for MU. Emily Creasy scored once and had three ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.
 
Kelty led Huntingdon with three goals. Shannen O'Leary had three draw controls and Krupa secured four ground balls.
 
Methodist is back in action on Sunday at LaGrange beginning at 12:00 pm.
