BRIDGWATER, Va. — The Methodist women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to Bridgewater on Wednesday afternoon.
With the loss, the Monarchs fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Eagles improve to 5-1.
Bridgewater scored at the 10:33 mark in the first half after Sydney Ryan was able to beat MU goalkeeper
Meaghan O'Meara. The score remained true for the remainder of the half, despite the Monarchs tallying five shots on goal in the period.
The second half started with an offensive rush from MU as it had multiple scoring chances in the first few minutes of play with shots from
Deycasha Miller and
Jasmine Newman. Although, the Eagles were able to increase their lead six minutes into the half when Bailey Kratz scored after getting the ball from Katherine Wight after a corner kick. With under nine minutes to play, Bridgewater scored its final goal when Bridget Fabiani scored with an assist from Rager to bring the score to 3-0.
MU held a 15-14 edge in shots, while also holding a 5-3 advantage in corners.
O'Meara (0-3) takes the loss after totaling four saves. Hayley Talbott picks up the win after recording six saves.
The Monarchs will return to action at home on Sept. 17, as they open USA South play against Mary Baldwin at 2 pm.
