ARLINGTON, Va. –
Fredrik Aalberg registered two second half goals to lead the Methodist men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory at Marymount on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Monarchs improve to 2-3-1 on the season, while the Saints drop to 2-3-2 overall.
Neither team found the back of the net in the opening half despite Methodist getting three chances from headers off of corner kicks. Aalberg finally posted the first goal of the game in the 62nd minute after receiving a pass from
Seth Harrison. The score remained the same until the duo connected again at the 83:58 mark as Aalberg tallied his second goal of the game, 2-0.
Goalkeeper
Jonathan Moore (2-1-1) received the win after posting his first shutout of the season and recording two saves. John Valcicak (2-2-2) took the loss after collecting three saves in 90 minutes.
MU outshot Marymount by a 10-6 margin and also held a 5-4 advantage in corners.
The Monarchs return to action on Saturday, Sept. 23, as they open conference play at home against Averett beginning at 4 pm.
