FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss against Ferrum in USA South Conference play at the Monarch Soccerplex on Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, the Monarchs fall to 1-4 on the season with a 1-1 record in league action. Meanwhile, the Panthers improve to 3-3 overall and also hold a 1-1 conference mark.
MU posted the first goal of the contest when
Deycasha Miller found a pass from
Allison Nagel to score her second goal of the season at the 26:10 mark. The Monarchs held on to the 1-0 lead for the rest of the first half.
The Panthers tied the game in the 53rd minute after Grace Mueller took a pass from Alexis McCargo was able to find the back of the net. Both teams were unable to score until Payton Stuart scored the game-winning goal at the 70:57 mark with an assist from Chloe Hudson.
Junior goalkeeper
Meaghan O'Meara (1-4) collected three saves in the loss, while Taylor Dodson (3-3) picked up five saves on the way to earning the victory.
The Monarchs held a 19-6 advantage in shots, while both teams received three corner kicks.
MU returns to action on Sept. 21 as it travels to face N.C. Wesleyan at 4 pm.
