Kaneya Chambers scored a career-high 18 points and
Jalisia Campbell scored 10 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as the Methodist women's basketball team scored a 52-44 win over Meredith at Weatherspoon Gym on Sunday afternoon.

Chambers shot 7 of 15 from floor, including 4 of 7 from three-point range, as MU improved to 3-11 overall at 1-2 in the USA South. Campbell's double-double was her fifth of the season and she chipped in four assists.

Meredith (1-11, 1-2) was led by Amy Rhoney's 11 points and nine boards. Courtney Roulhac added eight points, and Jessi Hayes finished with seven points and six rebounds.

The Monarchs turned an 8-6 deficit midway through the first quarter into a 13-9 lead after one by closing the period on a 7-1 run. In the second quarter, MU pushed its lead to 20-13 before the Avenging Angels rattled off 10 straight points to assume a 23-20 lead on Brittany Preston's free throw with 3:46 on the clock. MU however, came back with a 10-3 run to close out the half and take a 30-26 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Monarchs held Meredith to 2 of 11 shooting with eight turnovers and extended their lead to 39-34 entering the fourth quarter. In the fourth, a layup by Roulhac pulled Meredith to within one (41-40) with 5:42 to play, but Campbell answered with back-to-back layups and the Monarchs closed the game on an 11-4 run to seal the win.

Methodist forced the Avenging Angels into 24 turnovers and held MC to 34.6 percent shooting (18-52). Meredith held a 39-36 edge on the glass.
