Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 contest to Pfeiffer at the Monarch Soccerplex on Wednesday night.
 
The Monarchs (4-8) scored early in the game when Emily Borel sent a pass across the box and Sara Snotherly buried it into the net at the 4:07 mark for a 1-0 lead. The Falcons (8-5) tied the match in the 22nd minute as Cayci Eaton took a pass from Maddie Capel that split the Monarch defense and scored, 1-1. Near the end of the half, Maggie Walker added to the lead after scoring close in the box at the 36:42 mark, which sent PU into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
 
In the second half, the Monarchs put up 17 shots, including five on target, but could not get behind the Pfeiffer goalkeeper. Near the end of regulation, a foul was called in the box after a Falcon forward went into the box one on one with a defender. Tori Jackson scored on the ensuing penalty kick in the 84th minute as the Falcons held on for the victory.
 
Emily Benton made three saves in all 90 minutes in the loss, while Kaley Hyatt made seven stops and another scoring change was kicked aside by a defender.
 
The Monarchs outshot the Falcons 27-10, while also holding a 5-0 edge in corner kicks. A total of 29 fouls were called and two yellow cards were handed out.
 
Methodist returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 15, as it travels to Ferrum with first touch scheduled for 2 pm.
