GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Methodist women's soccer team overcame a two-goal deficit before falling, 3-2, to Greensboro in double-overtime on Wednesday evening.

The Pride (15-2, 4-2) took the lead in the 36th minute as Meredith Priest recorded her 11th goal of the year with an assist from Mercedes Fisher, 1-0. The mark held until the end of the half.

After the break, GC added to its lead at the 49:01 mark as Angela Niles headed in her seventh goal of the season with an assist to Samantha Whipp, 2-0. The score held for the next 20 minutes until
Camryn Amaker notched her second goal of the year to cut the lead to 2-1. The Monarchs (5-9, 4-2) tied the contest late in regulation as
Sara Snotherly fed
Haley Bowles for the score in the 87th minute, 2-2.

In the first overtime period, each team exchanged scoring changes, but neither side could end the contest as it went to a second extra time. The game-winning goal was struck by Anna Rae Porcelli in the 106th minute as the Pride earned a 3-2 victory.

Emily Benton made four saves in the loss, while Kelsey Emrich knocked away five shots.

GC outshot MU by a slim 12-10 margin, while the Monarchs claimed an edge in corner kicks, 5-1. Each team was called for 10 fouls.

Methodist returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 21, against Meredith at the Monarch Soccerplex for Senior Night and its regular season finale with first touch scheduled for 6 pm.
