MU Men's Soccer Falls to Greensboro, 4-1

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Methodist men's soccer team fell to Greensboro, 4-1, in the quarterfinals of the USA South Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
 
With the loss, the Monarchs, who were the No. 3 seed in the East, finish their season at 12-6-1 overall. Meanwhile, the No. 2 seed Pride advance to the semifinals of the tournament and face the winner of Maryville and LaGrange.
 
GC scored in the ninth minute of the contest after Jacob Owens recorded his third goal of the season with an assist by Jordy Briceno. The Pride extended its lead when Darli Mihindou added a score in the 28t minute as GC held a 2-0 lead at halftime.
 
Greensboro scored twice more in the second half coming at the 56:57 and 63:25 marks, respectively. Zvi Ferrari got one back for the Monarchs in the 72nd minute with an assist by Trevor Hendricks, but the Pride held on for a 4-1 victory.
 
Jonathan Moore made three saves but conceded three goals in nearly 62 minutes before Josh Helms finished the game in net and allowed one goal. Meanwhile Jaime Payamps played all 90 minute and stopped six shots.
 
Methodist outshot Greensboro 12-11, while the Pride had an advantage in corner kicks, 10-3.
