DANVILLE, Va. -- The Methodist volleyball team saw its season end with a 3-0 loss to Averett in the quarterfinals of the USA South Conference tournament on Tuesday evening at Averett.

The Monarchs advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-0 win (25-23, 25-15, 25-19) over Salem in the first round in the evening's first match before falling to top-seeded Averett 25-23, 25-18, 25-12. The Monarchs wrap up the season with a record of 18-13, while the Cougars improve to 31-3 and advance to this weekend's semifinal.

The Monarchs hit .256 as a team in the win over Salem, led by
Cassidy Hayes who had 11 kills and hit .333.
Ashley Beardsley added 10 kills and hit .348, while
Chyenne Pump chipped in 10 kills as well, and
Jasmine Tapscott came up with nine kills while hitting .389.

Maggie Harris handed out 36 assists and completed a double-double with 10 digs.
Megan Andrews had a team-best 19 digs, and
Annabelle Ronelli added 18. Andrews also had four of MU's eight service aces.

No Salem player had more than seven kills as the Spirits hit just .164 as a team. Madelyn Chappell had seven kills, and Cameron Sloop added six. Hannah Delcamp led the way with 17 assists, and Lauren Holman chipped in 12. Maggie Hawks led SC with 12 digs.

In the loss to the Cougars, MU's hitting percentage fell to .129 while Averett hit .303 as a team.

Hayes led the Monarchs with nine kills. Beardsley added eight kills and Pump had six. Harris registered 26 assists and eight digs, while Ronelli had a team-best 13 digs.

Lynsey Corriher had 13 kills to pace the Cougars, and Hannah Shields and Brianna Williams notched 12 and 10, respectively. Keenan Marks had 24 assists, and Emily Stanley added 12 digs.
