ROANOKE, Va. -- The Methodist women's basketball team suffered a 55-41 setback at Hollins on Tuesday evening.

Kadie Snipes led MU (0-4) with eight points off the bench, while
Kodi Centry contributed seven points and a career-best 13 rebounds.
Secret Bryant had five assists for the Green and Gold, and
Kayla Goldsmith chipped in 10 boards.

The Monarchs were done in by a sluggish start to the game as Hollins (1-3) took a 13-4 lead after the first quarter and then used a 9-0 run to open the second period and assume a 22-4 advantage in the early going. MU shot 1 of 15 in the first quarter in falling into a deficit it could not recover from.

After Hollins' lead swelled to 40-20 midway through the third period, an 11-1 run by the Monarchs, capped by a layup from Centry at the 1:28 mark of the quarter, cut the Monarchs' deficit to 10 at 41-31.
Christian Sanders split a pair of free throws with 2:00 to play that put the score at 50-41 in favor of HU, but the Monarchs could get no closer down the stretch.

Methodist held Hollins to 33.9 percent (19-56) shooting, but countered at just 24.6 percent (15-65) for the game. Hollins was 14 of 21 (.667) at the line, while MU got to the line 10 times and converted on five attempts. HU held a 48-42 edge on the glass.
