SALEM, Va. -- A trio of school records and a meet record performance highlighted the Methodist men's and women's track and field teams in their season-opening meet at the Bast-Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College.

Both the men's and women's distance medley relay teams broke school records and
Erran Greene broke the MU school record posted a meet record time in winning the 400m in a busy weekend to open the season.

The women's DMR of
Lindsey Pritchard,
Jovani Culver,
Ally Mattera and
Makayla Lawler posted a time of 13:34.63, far outpacing the time of 14:05.96 set last season. On the men's side, the team of
Connor Ayers,
Tony Taylor,
Jeremy Prichard and
Mack Brooks ran 10:56.26 to best the time of 11:11 posted two years ago.

Erran Greene had MU's other highlight, winning the 400m in a meet record time of 49.19. The time bested the previous MU school record of 49.30 set by
Donte Smith in 2014.Â

Prichard also led a strong contingent in the 800m, placing fifth in 2:04.39. Brooks was sixth in 2:04.64 and Ayers was seventh in 2:05.14. Ayers also ran the 1,000m, finishing in 2:43.70, while
Nathan Zauner completed the race in 2:58.94. Zauner also ran 16:56.26 in the 5,000 meters and 9:52.87 in the 3,000m in what was a busy meet for him. Brooks posted a time of 9:35.65 in the 3,000m.

The 4x400m relay team of Taylor, Greene, Prichard and
Emmanuel Allen won with a time of 3:26.98. Individually, Allen was second in the 300m in 37.45.
Adonius McBride finished eighth in the 60m with a time of 7.22 after running 7.14 in the semifinals.
Austin Boyles was eighth in the shot put with a mark of 12.41 meters and
Daniel Fisher had a distance of 6.21 meters in the long jump.

For the women,
Alexis Harris was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.77 meters, and Culver took sixth in the 60m with a time of 8.12 in the finals after running 8.06 in the prelims. Lawler had a time of 11:25.64 in the 3,000m.

Methodist's next meet is next Saturday in the Holiday Open hosted by Christopher Newport.
