Greensboro Defeats Women's Hoops, 79-57

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Greensboro College used a 26-8 scoring advantage in the second quarter to earn a 79-57 win over the Methodist women's basketball team on Wednesday evening.
 
Methodist (1-6, 1-2 USA South) was led by Christian Sanders' 12 points. Kadie Snipes and Kaneya Chambers chipped in nine and eight points, respectively. Lillian Geehring hauled in a team-best eight rebounds.
 
After playing to an 18-18 draw through 10 minutes of play, the Pride (5-0, 2-0) held MU to 3 of 17 shooting with nine turnovers in the second period, while hitting on 10 of 22 shots themselves to seize control of the contest. Greensboro held a 19-12 scoring edge in the third period to extend its lead before the Monarchs outscored GC 19-16 in the final 10 minutes of play.
 
Greensboro shot 39.8 percent (33-83) for the game while MU checked in at 30.5 percent (18-59). Methodist did hit 8 of 22 three-point attempts (.364) while holding the Pride to 28.6 percent shooting from long range (6-21).
 
The Pride also held an advantage in turnover margin (+6) and outrebounded MU 56-38 for the game.
 
Katie Lewis was one of four Greensboro players to reach double figures, scoring a game-high 19 points on 7 of 13 shooting. Lauren Jenkins and Kamerin Williams scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, while Rasheika Gregory added 10. Williams also had 10 rebounds, as did Shaniah Haynes. Laprecious England handed out eight assists.
 
Methodist is in action on Dec. 17 when it takes on Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Raleigh beginning at 2 pm.
