GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Methodist's women's basketball team closed out the regular season with an 88-51 loss at Greensboro on Sunday afternoon.

Christian Sanders led the Monarchs (7-18, 5-9 USA South) with 17 points, and
Jalisia Campbell added 11.
Sydney Bryan added six points and a team-high 11 boards, while Sanders chipped in eight rebounds.

Monica Smalls led the Pride (15-10, 10-4) with 22 points and seven rebounds. Katie Lewis chipped in 17 points and was joined in double figures by Cherise Ashley (11), Rasheika Gregory (10) and Kamerin Williams (10). Marla Crawford had six assists and three steals.

Greensboro seized control of the game by outscoring MU, 45-19, in the first half. The Pride limited the Monarchs to 6 of 25 shooting in the first half. Methodist held an 8-4 lead in the first quarter, but GC closed the period on a 17-0 run to take a lead that proved insurmountable.

For the game, the Monarchs shot 18 of 56 from the floor (.321), including 2 of 18 from long range (.111) and turned the ball over 29 times. Greensboro shot 46.3 percent (37-80) from the field, 38.1 percent from long range (8-21) and won the rebounding battle 47-43.

The Monarchs will now await word on their seeding and opponent for the upcoming USA South Women's Basketball Tournament.
