STAUNTON, Va. -- The Methodist women's basketball team held Mary Baldwin to 14 first-half points in securing a 66-42 win over the Fighting Squirrels on Saturday afternoon.

Methodist (6-15, 4-6 USA South) held Mary Baldwin (2-19, 0-10) to 5 of 22 shooting over the first 20 minutes. Conversely, MU hit 14 of its first 30 shots from the floor in opening a 33-14 lead at halftime.

Christian Sanders led the Monarchs with 23 points and added a career-high seven steals.
Jalisia Campbell had 13 points, 12 rebounds and three assists, while
Kaneya Chambers chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds.
Sydney Bryan registered eight points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Anna Ramirez led MBU with 15 points and Khaihiqa Davidson had seven points and 12 rebounds.

Methodist blew the game open with a 27-4 run to close out the first quarter and begin the second that turned an early 4-2 deficit into a 29-8 lead with four minutes left in the first half.

Mary Baldwin outscored MU 11-10 in the third quarter but the Monarchs responded with a 23-17 advantage in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

As a team, the Monarchs shot 41.8 percent (28-67) for the game and held a 46-29 edge on the glass. Methodist also forced 22 turnovers. Mary Baldwin shot 31.3 percent (15-48) as a team.

Methodist returns to the court on Sunday at Ferrum beginning at 3:00 pm.
