FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's lacrosse team rallied from an early 9-3 deficit, but was unable to complete a comeback in falling to Lycoming, 12-11, on Sunday afternoon at Monarch Stadium.

The Monarchs (4-6) fell behind by six goals on Jordan Lazarich's goal with 11:30 left in the first half before staging their comeback.

Madison Ronelli scored back-to-back goals to make it 9-5 by the 9:41 mark.
Monti Hendrix and
Tori Manahan got into the scoring mix as MU pulled to within 9-7 at the 4:45 mark, and
Emily Ewin and Ronelli followed in quick succession as the Monarchs tied the game 9-9 with 2:33 left in the first half.

The Warriors (2-2) got a goal from Leanne Shaw at the 2:04 mark to take a 10-9 lead into the break.

In the second half, Ronelli and Manahan opened the scoring as the Green and Gold took their first lead of the contest at 11-10 with 28:34 left to play. Following nearly 13 minutes of scoreless play, the Warrior knotted the score at 11-11 on a Lazarich tally with 15:14 to play. Caroline Mitchell scored the winning goal for LC with 7:48 to play.

Methodist managed just one shot in the game's final 7:48, but Nicole Gerling was able to get a stick on it and preserve the victory.

Jannelle Gant started in the cage for MU and played 48:45, allowing eight goals with six saves.
Molly O'Hara played 11:15 and made two saves with four goals allowed. Gerling played all 60 minutes for the Warriors and made five saves with 11 goals allowed.

Lycoming took 26 shots to 22 for the Monarchs, and MU had 18 turnovers to 17 for LC. Lycoming won 15 draw controls and MU came up with 10.

Ronelli led all players with four goals on the day, and Manahan and Hendrix each scored three times.
Renee Burt added a pair of assists. Hendrix also had three draw controls, and Manahan added two.
Sarena Pillow added a pair of draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls.

Mitchell and Lazarich each scored three times for Lycoming. Lazarich also had four draw controls and three ground balls, while Kelly McGinnis added six draw controls and three ground balls.

The Monarchs are back in action on March 29, when they play at Ferrum.
