Heidi Foreman was a perfect 4 for 4 in an 11-6 win as the Methodist softball team salvaged a split with LaGrange on Saturday afternoon at Price Field.

Foreman's four-hit game in the nightcap came after the Panthers had rallied for a 4-3 win in game one. -The Monarchs are now 7-23 on the season and 4-10 in league play, while the Panthers stand at 6-16 overall and 5-9 in the USA South.

Led by Foreman, and
Allyson Aycock who was 3 for 3 with a walk, the Monarchs' 11 runs in the nightcap marked a season high and helped
Chloe Hespeler improve to 4-8 in the circle.

After the Panthers had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, the Monarchs struck for four runs in the bottom half. With one out and two runners on, Foreman laced a single to left center to load the bases. A fielder's choice produced an out at home, but with two outs, MU got an RBI single from
Savannah Dunn to tie the game at 1-1.
Samantha Jacobs followed with a bases-clearing double to left center for a 4-1 lead.

The Panthers made it 4-2 in the third, but the Monarchs came back with two more runs in the bottom half on RBI singles by Aycock and foreman for a 6-2 lead. Foreman made it 7-2 in the fifth with another run-scoring single, and
Emily Hester pushed the lead to 9-2 with a two-run single that plated Dunn and Foreman.

The Panthers made an effort to rally in the sixth, getting four runs to make it 9-6, but MU closed the door with two more runs in the bottom of the frame for an 11-6 advantage.

Hespeler picked up the win by allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks with one strikeout in 5.1 innings.
Lindsey Champion pitched the final 1.2 innings and surrendered one run on three hits and a walk with one strikeout.

Jessica Perkins was tagged with the loss for LC. She gave up six runs (2 ER) on six hits and a walk in just 2.0 innings.

Foreman and Jacobs each finished with three RBI for MU, while Aycock, Dunn and Foreman all scored twice. Aycock was a home run short of the cycle.

In the opener, MU couldn't hold an early 3-0 lead and the Panthers scored the game's final four runs for a 4-3 win.

Hespeler and Aycock each had RBI singles in the first inning, and Hester added an RBI single in the second as the Monarchs built an early 3-0 lead. The Panthers cut into their deficit on Annlisa Chavez's sacrifice fly in the fourth to put the score at 3-1.

In the sixth, Adrienne Little hit a two-run double to left center to tie the game at 3-3, and Amber Arnold drove in Little with the game-winning run on a single to left.

Aly Thomas took the loss (2-11) for the Monarchs, surrendering four runs on 11 hits and three walks in 5.1 innings. Chelsea Twardoski picked up the win (6-8), giving up three runs on seven hits with five strikeouts in 7.0 innings.

Jacobs and Hester each had two base hits, including a double. Jacobs scored twice, and Hespeler was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

The Monarchs close out the home portion of their schedule tomorrow when they host Huntingdon in a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 am.
