PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Methodist women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-7 decision to Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday night.
With the result, the Monarchs fall to 4-3 on the season and end their three-game winning streak. Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets remain unbeaten at 4-0 overall.
BW got on the board first with a goal just one minute into play, before
Lindsay Brennan tied the score with 25:13 remaining in the half. Nearly seven minutes later, the Yellow Jackets took the lead, but the Monarchs responded with four-straight goals, including two from
Kaelyn Holland, to take a 5-2 lead at the 5:11 mark. Baldwin Wallace ended the half with three-consecutive scores as the two sides went into halftime tied at 5-5.
After the recess, the Yellow Jackets gained the lead on a goal by Mackenzie Moran with 28:50 left in regulation. Holland tied the game shortly after with her third goal of the game. BW outscored the Green and Gold 8-1 over the last 25 minutes to walk away with a 14-7 victory.
As a team, the Yellow Jackets outshot the Monarchs by a 31-15 margin and also held a 13-6 edge in ground balls. BW finished the game with 12 draw controls compared the MU's 10.
Holland finished the contest with three goals and two draw controls.
Bianca Terenzi and
Monti Hendrix each registered two points on one goal and an assist, while Brennan posted two goals. Sareena Pillow led with three draw controls.
For the Yellow Jackets, Maddie Russell led offensively with a game-high five points on four goals and an assist and four ground balls. Megan Patrick tallied four points on a hat trick and an assist to go along with two ground balls. Brie Martineau and Moran each posted two goals on Tuesday.
Methodist will close out its trip to Port Charlotte, Florida on March 9 against John Carroll beginning at 7:30 pm.
