FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Methodist men's soccer team dropped their game 2-0 against N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The Battling Bishops scored in the third minute and then later in the 57th minute for the victory. The Monarchs finish the regular season with an overall record of 7-8-2 and a conference record of 4-6-2, good for fourth place in the East division.

Nick Bryant was the only Monarch player to attempt a shot. Goalkeeper
Mohomed Dulleh recorded six saves against two goals in his first start in goal for the Monarchs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The lone Methodist shot occurred in the second minute by Bryant. Tobias Borzel came up with the save for N.C. Wesleyan.
- As part of a furious counterattack, Dominique Giovannini scored the first goal of the game on an assist from Matteo Costa.
- There was not much action in the game that saw only ten shots combined, five corner kicks, and a relatively low 12 fouls. However, there were four yellow cards given, three to Methodist players.
- After allowing his first shot faced to be a goal, Dulleh saved the other six shots in the first half.
- There were only two shots attempted in the second period, both by the Battling Bishops.
- Sheriff Secka scored off of the first shot attempted in the second period to make the score 2-0.
- In the 45 minutes of action in the second period, there were only two shots faced and two corner kicks, with a couple foul and offside calls.
- Most of the action in the second period centered around the many substitutions as Samuel Briggs appeared in his first game in goal as a Monarch with around five minutes to go in the game.
TOURNEY TIME
- The 14 points Methodist earned in conference play has earned them an October 30 date in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament with the top-seeded team in the east, Greensboro College. The Monarchs travel to play The Pride at 2 p.m. Tuesday. These two programs previously played each other on October 17 with Greensboro winning 2-1, thanks to a game-winning goal in the 84th minute.
