FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Monarchs were unable to overcome a first half 3-0 deficit on Saturday afternoon against Greensboro College in conference action. Methodist scored two second-half goals to narrow the gap 3-2 but the Pride scored a goal in the 87th minute to secure the win.
Anna Rose Sink and
Amanda Brust scored in the 39th and 53rd minutes, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- This matchup was very physical as both teams combined for 16 fouls and five yellow cards. The Monarchs' Angelica Santos, Cheyenne Ferrin, and Haley Bowles were assessed yellow cards.
- The Pride were aggressive, pushing the tempo early on that resulted in the three first-half goals.
- Greensboro had two shots hit off the post before scoring their first goal in the 23rd minute.
- Anna Rose Sink put the Monarchs on the board late in the first half with an assist from Haley Jones off a free kick.
- Amanda Brust scored within the first ten minutes of the second half to put the score at 3-2.
- Down by one goal, the Monarchs put three shots on goal but the Pride's goalkeeper Kelmsey Emrich earned the saves all three of those shots.
- In the 86th minute, Miranda Cowardin had a shot that hit off the crossbar that could have potentially sent the game into overtime.
- Alexis Chase was able to get behind the Methodist back line to score the Pride's fourth goal of the game in the 87th minute while Methodist was pushing up, playing aggressive.
- Methodist was outshot 17-11 but the Monarchs made their shots count as they had eight shots on goal compared to Greensboro's seven shots on target.
- Goalkeepers' Catie Gaughan and Maggie Hunt each had one save for the game.
BEYOND THE STATS
- Gaughan was in goal for all of the second half. Those 45 minutes marked a season-high in goal for her.
- It was Brust's first goal of the season.
- Greensboro College remains undefeated as their record now sits at 11-0. Extending from last season, the Pride has won 17 regular season games in a row.
