Monti Hendrix collected a program record 17 draw controls as the Methodist women's lacrosse team dropped Salem 26-2 at Salem Field on Tuesday afternoon.
In addition to her 17 draw controls, Hendrix also contributed four goals and four assists with four ground balls and caused two turnovers.Â
The 26 goals that the Monarchs (2-1) scored is the second-most in a single game in program history behind a 27-goal performance to end last season and is the fifth time they have put up at least 20 goals in a game since 2016.

Sydney Bonner and
Madison Ronelli each tallied five goals, while Ronelli added three assists.
Sarah Ewin scored three times and added a helper to go with four ground balls, four caused turnovers and three draw controls. A total of 11 Monarchs scored in the contest. MU also outshot SC by a 60-3 margin.

Ewin started the scoring just 23 seconds into the contest as Erin Cima added another goal 16 seconds later, 2-0. Ronelli recorded three goals in a six-minute stretch, capped by an unassisted score at the 19:53 mark as MU took an 8-0 lead. Moments later, Moy Chen scored before back-to-back goals from Ronelli put the Monarchs up 10-0 on its way to a 19-0 advantage at halftime. Eight different players recorded goals in the half, including
Sam Short and
Akili Jabulani who registered their first scores of the season.

In the first half, the Spirits (0-2) were held to just one shot and gained just one draw control. In comparison, the Monarchs recorded 41 shots, including 29 on the cage.

Caitlyn Shea opened the second half with a goal at the 25:46 mark to give a 20-0 advantage to MU. The Monarchs scored four more times before Salem got on the board with 9:45 left in the second half on a free position goal by Allix Kean. MU tallied two more scores before a goal from the Spirits at the 1:20 mark led to the final score of 26-2.

Molly O'Hara got the win in the cage after only facing two shots on the day. Hannah Ostlund took the loss and made 16 saves for the Spirits.

Methodist returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 24, as it starts USA South play at Huntingdon beginning at 12 pm.
