FERRUM, Va. -- The Methodist women's basketball team fell at Ferrum, 64-43, on Saturday afternoon at Swartz Gym.

Kodi Centry led the Monarchs (3-19, 3-10 USA South) with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Kadie Snipes chipped in eight points, five boards, three assists and a pair of steals in a solid all-round performance.

The Monarchs scored the first five points of the contest on a jumper by
Hanna James and a triple from Snipes for a 5-0 lead a minute and a half into the game. After missing their first four shots from the field, the Panthers (13-9, 11-2) got on the board when Brooke Lewis scored off a feed from Zarkia Mattox at the 6:51 mark.

Lewis' bucket began what would be a 20-2 period-ending run by the Panthers for a 20-7 lead after the first quarter.

Methodist got on the board first once again in the second quarter as
Kayla Goldsmith knocked down a pair of free throws less than a minute into the period and Centry followed with a layup to make it 20-11 in favor of Ferrum with 7:11 left in the first half. The Panthers closed the period strong once again, using a 12-5 run to take a 32-16 lead into the break.

Ferrum held an 18-6 scoring advantage in the third period as it stretched out its lead before MU outscored the Panthers 21-14 in the fourth quarter for the final 21-point deficit.

The Monarchs shot 36.6 percent (15-41) as a team and totaled 36 rebounds. Ferrum shot 39.7 percent (27-68) from the field, had 33 rebounds and forced 27 MU turnovers.

Zarkia Mattox had 23 points, eight rebounds and seven steals for the Panthers, and Maggie Self added 15 points.

The Monarchs are back in action on Sunday at Averett beginning at Mary Baldwin beginning at 2 pm.
