FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Tuesday.
The Monarchs began the day with a 9-0 loss to UC-Riverside at home before traveling to William Peace and dropping the Pacers, 9-0, to finish the afternoon.
In the loss to the Highlanders, MU dropped all three doubles contests, but
Wynn Johnson and
Kayhahn Alikhani tallied two games for a 6-2 count.
RJ Clement battled to a third set with Pawel Jankowiak before falling 6-2, 5-7, 10-3, at the top singles flight. UC-Riverside swept the other five spots in straight sets.
In the victory against the Pacers,
Jacob Oehser and
Reid Rose defeated Dylan Betancourt and Patrick Ralph at the first slot, 9-8, before
Coleman Baker and
Trent Harner picked up an 8-1 win against Davis Felts and Daniel Carter at the second flight.
Max Linder and
David Hopkins closed out the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win against Andrew Anderson and Charlie West.Â
Clement took a 6-2, 7-5 win at the top singles slot and Baker tallied a 6-1, 6-0 win at the second position. Harner dropped Felts 6-1, 6-0, while
Hayden Wilfong defeated Daniel Carter, 6-3, 6-2.
Joshua Deutsch moved past Anderson 6-1, 6-3 and
Owen Findley finished out the sweep by dropping West, 6-3, 5-7, 7-4.
Methodist returns to action on Friday, March 30, at Greensboro.
